New Years Day

We had a quiet, homebody kind of New Years Day ~ watched From Here To Eternity and napped. Dinner was very simple and casual, but oh so good.
I slow cooked a smoked ham hock, then shredded the meat and used the broth to cook up some blackeyed peas. Stirred the ham in and served it with sauteed brussels sprouts.

i always thought people who ate brussel sprouts willingly had to have something wrong with them. of course that means you must be strange and we would get along very well. i can sneak my brussel sprouts on to your plate so sit beside me at holiday dinner ;)

LOL, I'll gladly take those sprouts off your hands ~ I am one of those freaks who eats sprouts on a regular basis.

Yummm, I've been a big fan of the brussels sprout lately - and what a great traditional new years meal!

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who don't like brussel sprouts but then it could just amount to family/ friend people cooking them in a most depressingly mushy way. I've been too scared to try them again.
The dinner looks like a cozy comfort food kinda meal. :)
