Diner Monday ~ Salisbury Steak

Ahh the return of Diner Monday - and no, you are not imagining things, this post WASN'T here on Tuesday. Oh how I love Blogger's time/date options. Anyway, Rob's project this weeka nd we went really old school with salisbury steak, green beans and homefries. Anyone else notice that all of our diner meals are served with green beans? Got any better suggestions? Or ideas for classic diner meals? Leave me a comment, let me know.

By the way, this was very tasty in a totally trashy way.....

Rob's "Salisbury Steak"

1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 egg
1 tbsp ground cumin
salt & pepper
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 c breadcrumbs
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tbsp minced shallot
Saute shallot and garlic in olive oil with a light pinch of salt; this will take about 3 minutes. When your done, pour everything in the pan over the meat. Gently mix all ingredients together and form two "steaks"(or more ~ its a lot of meat!)
Heat a skillet over medium high heat and cook the steak 4 mins on each side or until it is done. Top with your favourite gravy recipe. Its just that easy!

Le Frog has asked for your recipe of Salisbury Steak. Would you mind parting with it? I've never made it before, being mostly vegetarian for 10 years, so I would like to rely on somebody's recipe than something I randomly pick off a website or out of a book.
